I'm liking Jaguar and the 17" iMac.
I'm not too fond of .mac though, looks like I'll have to find another website carrier.

.mac sucks. I can't believe that they are taking away the free email addresses. That's BS.

17" imac the rest is total bull you know what. Aaple is getting way to greedy.

What made it for me was the Will Ferrell "porn actor" switch ad. :D

iTunes 3 is cool, but the only feature I really needed was the Sound Check.

I am totally looking forward to the new Mail, Sherlock, and Address Book, as well as the new iPod firmware.

The rest was okay (minus .MAC) but not that important for me.

i'm stoked that they made the new 17" a 1440x900 res. i love the widescreens. that would be the biggest thing stopping me from getting a PC laptop, i love the TiBooks widescreen!!!!

and 10.2 is cool. and i get it for, what was it? $49? i've got those software update coupons, he he.;)

cb11,

i also like the 17 inch imac and i didn't think apple had it ready yet

for a consumer level user like me, the 17 inch imac is good news and one more step in making the consumer level machines seem more like professional machines

i feel bad for the pro users who expected 1.4 ghz g4 towers of whom many of them would have been dissed if apple came out with just 1.2 ghz

but in the end, apple did not come out with anything on the pro line and new york would have been the best time to announce it, even if they would not be ready until september

when the original ibook came out, people were expecting a consumer portable, so sj announced it in july, and they shipped in september

while the wait may have been difficult, i don't think it hurt the product

if the new g4 towers are really only a few weeks away, then why did apple hold off the announcement

perhaps apple will announce in september/october and have a new 1.4 ready for christmas...better late than never

i am now convinced that there will be no g5 pro tower this year or g4 ibook (but the latter is slightly more likely)

Bingo. EXACTLY. Why demo Jaguar that doesn't come out until August and NOT demo the "new" PowerMacs that everyone has been waiting for? This leads me to believe there's nothing but a slight speed bump next go around. I think Apple is much further behind than anyone cares to admit.

Jed Ferrell, Will Ferrells, nephew, goes to my school. Hi sister is named Emily Ferrell and his parents are Michael & Miriam Heiferman Ferrell. His e-mail address is mfhmd@aol.com. E-mail him for the video of the commercial. This is so funny! Tell me if you want his address.

Remember how pissed off apple was at all of the rumor sites a week ago??? All these sites really do is get our hopes up... a lot of the things we hear about have no validity what-so-ever. Apple knows this, and hates to have it's most dire fans upset (c'mon, why would they want to piss us off?) I guess what I'm saying is that Apple will not let us down - have they since '96? I surely don't think so. They are the most inovative computer company in the world. Just look at how awsome their current line-up is...

the only consumer computer in the world with a standard LCD flat-screen and superdrive, the iPod (everyone wants one), xServe (the most amazing server released by any company in the past 3 years), a 23in HD Cinema display, the pro line isn't too shabby either (dual 1ghz G4's aren't exactly slow), the coolest portable computers on the planet (12in ibook, and 800mhz G4 widescreen powerbook).... not to mention the best operating system known to man. c'mon people ..... Apple still rulz!

I think apple wants to bring back the element of suprise it used to have a while back... MWNY was just a teaser, I think in the next few months Apple will suprise us all with something BIG. Apple has been buying up small companies every-other week, or so it seems... why? <- obviously for some reason. A graphics company, a software company, a pro audio company, (i know there are a few more ...)

Over the past few months, Apple has been attempting to CONVERT people... people that are only used to spending around $700 - $1700 on a computer, so MWNY was like the climax of this movement in a sense. A new suped up iMac 17in flat pannel, with a gForce 4, superdrive, 80 gig HD, 1.5 gig ram, 800mhz G4, and a slew of new iApps, coupled with a 20 gig iPod (w/ Remote) everything a NEW mac user needs...

The pro mac user is next..... Don't worry everyone... it'll all be ok in a few months. Apple will anounce something when we least expect it.

Jaguar looks great and the price doesn't bother me because it'll be on the new systems when I'm ready to buy. I really like the 17" widescreen on the iMac. The 15" screen was just a little too small, but the 17" is awesome.

i hope apple has something down the pike

they still have the greatest gear all the way around

they just need to pump up bus speeds and processor speeds and i am sure that will help them sell a lot more units

i buy based on features, but many consumers look at the cpu speed too much so apple has to cater to the greater buying public

i have no doubt that apple's dual 1 ghz machine can whip a 2 ghz pc, but how about a 2.53 ghz pc? maybe and maybe not...but try convincing the average consumer of that

I, for one, am really psyched about the iCal.app. Ever since I finally shed myself of Entourage a few weeks ago, I've been kind of wondering why Apple didn't have a calendar app - and this one looks killer. I'm really psyched about being able to publish my calendar to the web and synch it with a (hypothetical) iPod.

I'm a relatively new Mac user, and I must admit that I am constantly puzzled by people who can't wait for Apple to release something new, and then when they do they complain about it?!?! Look at all the amazing products Apple has--when was the last time you heard about that great MP3 player and software that Dell makes or the Compaq laptop that was user friendly and error free? Take a look at how good you have it when you're a Mac user!

I'm not disagreeing with all you who see a general need for a speed bump in processors and bus speed, but frankly, I'm not a power user--nor are most people. Some people might actually need that extra speed bump from 1 Ghz to 1.4 Ghz, but I'm not going to notice it when I'm writing an email, listening to music, or talking to friends online.

I guess the bottom line here is at MWNY Apple gave us what we needed--maybe not what we all wanted, but then again would you rather they took it all back?

as a longtime user of apple computers (1979), i always expect something amazing from them...apple IIe, macintosh, LC 2 and 3, quadra, powerbook, imac, ibook, g4, etc...

but since motorola got stuck at 500 mhz for 18 months and now that they have not delivered chips over 1 ghz, apple looks to be faltering for the first time in their history...as it relates to mac faithful's expectations

and since there really is not a hint of a g5, power users are possibly switching to risc based athlon systems for the first time

to see longtime mac users threatening to switch to pcs is disturbing

our college web publishing department used to be macs, now they are dells

our business skills center used to be half macs, now it's all dells

i have never seen the mac faithful in such a funk and i think part of the reason is because the pc world is pulling so far ahead each day

but since i am not a power user, this does not really affect my day to day

apple has to do something soon to retain its shrinking base or else people will start saying they miss the good apple of the old days

sj might have helped save the company, but he is not known for being able to hold down a long term strategy...he is a company starter and visionary, but it may take someone else to keep it steady from day to day

apple started with a bang in 98 and 99, then slowly started to lose its grip each month until we have the complainers of today wishing for ddr ram and a faster cpu

me hate windows

New iPods
Jaguar
iSync
iCal
iTunes 3
Rendezvous
QuickTime 6 & MPEG-4
17-inch Widescreen iMac

I do not have a .mac email account and I was waiting for an iPod price drop so this was a great MacWorld for me.
