Upgrade to 3.1 now, JB later? [Archive]

So I've been looking around for this but haven't been able to find a clear answer yet.

Right now, I have a jailbroken 3GS running 3.0.1. When I first got the phone, before I jailbroke the first time, I captured the iBEC and iBSS files, which are now saved on my computer.

My questions is can I update to 3.1 now and jailbreak later when it is available? I'm on AT&T so unlocking won't be an issue.

ALSO: I have download many cracked apps to my computer which are now in itunes (which i can currently sync to my phone). If I do update to 3.1, will I be able to put the cracked apps on my phone, or will I need AppSync for that?

As I've stated, I'm on AT&T so I don't need to unlock

I'm in the same boat - already have the files I need and have no need to unlock. I think I'm gonna upgrade tonight and then jb next week or whenever it's released. I'll miss YourTube and 3G Unrestrictor, but whatever. :)
