Can you post digits 3 through 5 of your serial number? Like: XX123XXXXXX. This will tell us the approximate date that your iPhone was manufactured (Year and Week Number).

That's week Week 37 of 2009. But that would mean your iPhone was manufactured sometime within the past week! Today is the last day of Week 37.

Well, it wouldn't be the first time I thought a post was new and innovative only to be shown 50 others just like it. :D

On another note, I always wonder with new software releases when they start loading the phones in the production line. If we are already seeing them just 4 days out, then are pretty darn snappy about it!

I'm pretty sure 3.1 was built more than 4 days ago so I guess it is possible. Although it seems pretty unlikely to have been done that quick directly to the Apple Store.

i have no reason to lie here folks it was really just a cautionary post for unlockers/people who want to jailbreak. I wouldnt have expected to get a phone that was made this week, let alone come preloaded with fw that was released to the public only 4 days ago. the serial posted above is correct.

The Beta version of 3.1 was out for quite some time and never updated. So it makes sense it was already being installed on new phones as of week 37 or prior.
