Hello,

I have just converted from a PC to a MAC user so things are a little different!

I have downloaded Snow Leaopard via Xtorrent into my MacBook Pro. The file is about 6.5gb big, it's a .dmg image file. Everytime I try and open the file my machine tells me I need to burn the image to a Disk and then try it again.

My question is if I can use a virtual drive like "daemon tools for pc" to execute the file? or is there a way to compress the file so it fits in a 4.7 gb DVD blank disk? I just don't have any dual layer DVD's available.

Any help is appreciated!

Thanks

Just buy it, it's really cheap.

Simple options would include:

1. Buying the software
2. Buying a dual-layer DVD
3. Let's try the first one again - buying the software. :apple:

Yeah, buy the retail copy and stop pirating.

When we say "Buy it" we mean to get a retail copy. Apple does not distribute their software via Bit Torrent.

Yes. I'm asking a Technical question not a moral debate. If you don't know anything about virtual drives or compressing .dmg image files then please don't reply. Thank you

Technical answer: Purchase a SnowLeopard upgrade DVD.

Non-technical: Isn't the $29 SL upgrade worth less than the time you will be wasting trying to get pirated software installable and installed.

..and who knows whats on that torrent and what it will do to your macbookpro.

Well, I know quite a bit about them actually. But since you are such a bigshot using torrents to get your software, figure it out yourself.

Also, the details of your "technical" problem are lacking. Especially for an "engineer." Ha!

It looks as though your lack of technical understanding has brought you to the wrong forum. Try googling around for some pirate websites since that seems to be the company you'd prefer to keep. You have heard of google, haven't you?
