Well, not quite. First you need Applecare or be under the 1year warranty.

Unjailbreak your iPhone and restore it back. Do not install any apps. If you do, the Genius will blame any of your iPhone problems on 3rd party apps.

Tell the Genius that you've replaced your Simcard, restored your iPhone multiple times.

Tell the Genius that Tomtom and Navigon can hardly ever get a GPS lock, and that you suffer dropped calls often.

The genius will do a water check (he looks at the dock connection for that little white strip, if it's pink, you are screwed)

The Genius will give you a brand spanking new shiny iPhone. He won't give you a new box however.

I've done this twice, and I've gotten a brand new phone (no scratches!):D

This is really quite abusive. You are driving up the price of the phone for everyone else. Use it till it doesn't work then go get a new one, don't make up lies just so you can get a phone without a few scratches on it. And you are not getting a new one, you are getting a refurbished one... So the chances of it breaking on you once your AppleCare expires is probably higher anyway.

Fail. They give you a refurb. That's why there is no new box. Thy told me when I returned mine that it has some new internals and some old parts that still work like new but have a new external case
