Practically you almost certainly can, but legally you would break the EULA, which can be held against you.
Morally is something else. It's only 30USD.

Assuming your friend only has a single-user disk:
Legally - No
Technically - Yes
If they have a family pack:
Legally - Possibly, depending on how many licenses have been used (there are five)
Technically - Yes

You CAN do it. However, it violates the EULA, technically is piracy, and is just morally wrong. Go buy a copy!

Using your friend's DVD will give you diarrhea. It's a proven fact.

Yep, start having sex with him and the rest of his family ... you should easily quality as a member of the family then. :p
Likely the Windows 7 disc will require a key code or authorization of some sort. There you'd have to have sex with Ballmer, not as attractive for that family pack.

Ethics are a personal matter, just like morals, so don't give the guy any crap because his doesn't match up with yours.
You can do it without hacking or anything since there is no key code or activation or anything. If I were to do this, I would have a copy in case something goes wrong with the machine in the future

You should wipe your system before installing Snow Leopard. Don't worry about backing anything up because the new OS will go find it all for you. It's pretty ingenious.

That is a great feature with SL as the file headers are recognized when installing an os
saved me the time from having to backup and then resync.
this is a very nice feature in terms of saving installing time. kudos to apple
