Okay - to be fair I have to say I LOVE the Magic mouse - I took a day trip today just to get one. However, I am *extremely* disappointed that I cannot use momentum scrolling on Leopard 10.5.8 - what gives?!.

I feel like a second class citizen!! :p

Yeah, that's a fantastic suggestion, when ALL my apps & workflow are on Leopard, 10.6.2 which fixes a BOATLOAD of bugs, STILL isn't out. Yeah, I should miss out on momentum scrolling because I don't want to move from a well-proven, stable OS to a buggy one.

*hands you a "genius" tee shirt*

Flawless solution. Not. :p

SL has been excellent for me. I wouldn't describe it as even remotely buggy. The upgrade from Leopard was pretty painless.

Momentum scrolling is totally worth it.

Yes - for YOU!. Have you been in a cave the last two months - it is RIDDLED with bugs!!!. I refuse to upgrade until 10.6.2, which, fortunately, is not too far away.

I am not about to cut off my nose to spite my face.

Then what would you like us to suggest, sir. :p

I would politely suggest that you stop making naive and useless suggestions. You should NOT have to upgrade JUST for this feature - you're being sheep, and this is quite ridiculous!.

OP, ignore the fanboys. As someone who's upgraded to SL, I would have not done it had I known all the issues it would cause me. Obviously some people have had flawless experiences and some people have had terrible experiences, but there's no reason to rush it. There are plenty of reasons to not upgrade. Perhaps, like me, you use a machine at work that does not have SL-compatible drivers (wish I had known) ...

As for your issue, currently there's no way to do it, but you can use the app SmartScroll, in the meantime. Just Google it.

I'm in the UK.

Prior to purchasing the Magic Mouse I was browsing the Apple site. Check it out.

http://www.apple.com/uk/magicmouse

On this page there is no mention of momentum scrolling being Snow Leopard only. None.

Here's a screenshot, just in case they update it....

Compare it to the USA version....

Am going to notify Apple now....

And yes, Snow Leopard is buggy -- or at least a lot of apps are incompatible with it. Apps that lots of us need to use.

and youre being a whiny douche, complaining why new technology isn't backwards compatible with your old technology you refuse to update.

whatd you expect?

upgrade to SL, or take the stick out and deal with no momentum scrolling.

SL is fine. Just upgrade. 10.6.2 is just around the corner, anyway.

Leopard is old technology because it is older than Snow Leopard, and is no longer being supported by Apple outside of security updates.

Are you sure there is no reason? I take it you are a software engineer at Apple?

So what do you want??? 10.6 has momentum scrolling, 10.5 doesn't. either upgrade and get it or don't, deal with it and move on. there is no negotiation. what is the point of this post? to bring up something people know already? here's some cheddar to go with that whine

Are you? There's already a plugin for pre-Snow Leopard that has this exact functionality (SmartScroll). Why do Mac users feel like Apple is their best friend who they need to defend constantly, even when they're wrong?

I am still wishing I had not upgraded to Snow Leopard ...

Wow this thread went downhill quickly.

To the OP, if you want people to offer you insight and/or advice you might want to try being a little more respectful.

Dude, quit being a prick. His suggestion was far from naive and useless - it would fix your "problem."

If you prefer not to follow it for your own reasons, then fine. But quit being an ass about it. There are vast millions of happy SL users, myself among them. If you stick with the last generation OS, then one of the side effects is you may not have support for every little wish list you want, when you want it.

Take your pick.
