Very Bad News:
The company Comcast, who is the major bidder in acquiring the former TCI parts of AT&T in addition to the Local service rights is owned, in significant percentage, by MICROSOFT!!!!!!!!

It turns out even AT&T is owned in large part by MS. The whole thing is being set up to kill Time-Warner/AOL before the court case can conclude!!!!!!

The Federal regulatory commision overseeing Cable TV distribution rights antitrust does not communicate with other departments as standard procedure. The deal will happen and all of a sudden, anyone who uses AT&T broadband, has AT&T local Phone service, or has AT&T Cable will get a little flyer in the mail offering all 3 services and MSN for just $xx.95/month.

We must stop this end run by Microsoft. Call, write, and E-mail your local State Attourney General reguarding the MS antitrust case and pass the word. This must not occur.

AT&T broadbad is what used to be TCI. TCI owned the satellite and Fibre infrastructure that ALL OTHER cable providers depend on. Therefore MS effectively owning these resources means anyone with Cable TV pays them a percentage.

The two morons who ran CW into the ground fired all the employees, liquidated the assets, dumped the San francisco, Palo Alto and San Rafel stores, shut down the website, disconnected the DSL and sold out to Elite. Elite only does well because they're directly across the street from 1 infinite loop dr. in Cupertino.

i got offered a job there and i very much liked the crew at computerware...it's so sad they are gone

i love the elite computers store in cupertino...it beats the you know what out of the actual apple store at apple which is big but always very empty

woz shops at elite so they told me but i believe it...the third party support at the apple store on infinite loop is terrible and it's like, look how cool this zen-empty store looks like with the northern light penetrating through the windows

it reminds me of that zen retreat kiva house on water street

only without the jasmine tea

(Evil Grin)

Lets spread the Idea of the Fed siezing all of Microsoft, making it a Public Utility and absorbing it's assets into the "general fund".

On behalf of all of us who were on that crew, hatfield: Thank you.

We got royally screwed. The morning crew showed up to a Liquidator and were told to go home. A final cheque was mailed out days later. That was it and we were never told why. I interrogated a "new" employee who worked in the San Rafel store until they shut us all down to find out just what went down.

instead of taking the offer to work with the crew, i decided to stay a tech in monterey because as you know the commute on one lane through artichoke fields in the fog is almost as dangerous and long as the commute over the hill on 17 into the heart of silicon valley

i may never look at elite the same way again

they still treat their displays better than circuit city though
