Why do you spend $5000 for a computer that can't play games and is only good for looking at photos and checking emails? Answer me this. If Macs did EXACTLY the same things as they do now and they were still the same price, except they were jagged, ugly, didn't have the shiny apple logo and were not as aesthetically appealing as you think they are now, would you still buy one?

Who said that games are the be all/end all of computing?

I'd love to see a PC record and edit album tracks that I am making as good as my SO's Mac does.

Besides.. I can get a better game of X-Plane out of the mac than I can out of a PC, let alone boot into XP or 7 and play it just as easily.

Yes, I would buy one, because like Slackware Linux, they just work.

I barely see my mac as its connected to an external monitor. The OS is simply better than windows for most uses. The better question would be if I could get mac os x on a regular pc, would I buy apple hardware?

Why do all of you Apple fanboys keep chanting the slogans of your lord and saviour, Steve Jobs? It just works? It just works!? Do you have any further explanation than that? If macs "just work" then why is there a forum called MacFixit?

I bought a Mac for its OS. Also, not everyone plays games, so why get a PC?

For when it doesn't.

Great, another Mac vs PC thread....

Choosing an OS/Hardware is a personal choice. Why would you choose HP over Dell, if the internals are the exact same? Try reliability, looks, warranty, great customer service. (Not saying Dell is better than HP, or vice versa, just as an example).

For some users, OS-X and Windows do the exact same thing, like web-browsing and e-mail checking.
For some users, OS-X actually has software that's not available on Windows, and they have to use it for their professional life, and vice-versa.

Overall, it's a personal preference. Why would you go to Pizza Hut instead of Dominoes? They're all pizza.....well, one is more to your liking, no? Same with computers, one is more to one's liking.

Not EVERYONE plays games and they assume you NEVER will so they don't let you while still charging you through the nose for whats essentially a shiny "Internet communications device"

And what makes you think I'm a Fanboy? I'm not. I just know a good solid OS when I see one, that does more than what I need, and suffice to say, M$ Winbl0wz isn't it.

Slackware has been 'just working' since 1993, and to be honest, Macs have been 'just working' since System Software 7.1 through 7.5.3.

Windows? BSOD since 1992 and counting.

I'd rather a shiny "internet communications device" that WORKS then a ugly "virus infested, crash prone internet communications device."

Everything breaks thats just the facts of life you will need to repair just about anything at some point in time... the "just work" is simply talking about OSX

Compare everything on the same level playing fields here at least for me...

Show me another system other than a stand alone Avid which costs any where from 15k all the way up to 100K for Video editing. And not only Video but the abuility to work on the same machine for graphic, audio, and CG. Hands down Apples pro line and OSX has got what we need to function.

If you don't know how to turn a PC on then a mac is for you. It doesn't get viruses, it doesn't get hacked. If you know how to use a PC competently then it can be a beast, it will get viruses occasionally, but only because most people use PC's, there would be no point making viruses for a mac because no one uses a mac.
