View Full Version : Trade my Dual G5 for Powerbook

Like the title of this thread says, I want to trade my Dual G5 for your Powerbook.

I want a 15" or 17" Powerbook, because I'm really not using the G5 to its potential.

My G5 is bone stock, no mods or anything. It's the older Dual 1.8, not the newer "crippled" models.

So I'm interested in seeing if anybody would be interested in trading with me. The only model I really wouldn't want is a 12" model.

Email me at mnjordan@gmail.com with offers.

Thanks!

The G5 and displays are sold separatly. But a 20" is avaliable.

I think they meant is Mike Teezie including the 20" display with the G5 in the trade.

Mike, this is most likely one of the most well taken care of REV. A 17" powerbooks. It is nearly perfect. There is one scratch about 1/16" at the top right corner when the screen is shut. Other wise its gorgeous. NO dead pixels, no problems with anything. Its got 60 GB hard drive, 512 RAM, lots of programs on it. Panther, iLife '04. Airport Extreme, Superdrive, all that good stuff that comes with the 17". Im still not totally sure if i want to trade, but im VERY tempted, i've wanted a G5 for a while now.

Calvinatir

yes, it has the backlit keyboard, and another 512 stick costs aprox. ~100 - 115 from crucial. what are the stats of the dual 1.8?

I have a faster laptop I'm willing to trade with 1GB of RAM. It's a 15" Aluminum 1.25GHz. I've emailed you about it.

I couldn't make that choice between the 2 machines. I bought a Revision A Dual 2Ghz and the 15' Powerbook 1.5 Ghz. I use them for completely separate tasks. The G5 for primary video and DVD burning thanks to having 2 internal drives (one for apps and the other for DV video). And I use the G5 for games too. The Powerbook is used for everything else plus remote gaming or when my G5 is busy with video encoding. If you don't do video encoding a lot, the powerbook is the way to go with at least 1 GB of memory. The PB feels like my G5 sometimes and I recommend it for most people. The Powermac G5 is best if you have the 30 inch display, maxed out with hard drives and memory, and taking advantage of the PCI-Express slots for something like RAID-5 drives or something. The stock configuration isn't that great in my opinion compared to a PB.

How abouts this one:
1ghz titanium PB (The last ones made)
60gb HD
1gb RAM
Airport card installed
Panther installed
iLife '04 installed
+7700 songs, if it's not illegal to do so (side question: is it illegal to sell songs with a computer?)
If you don't want to trade, anyone know how much this might go for?

Hi
I'd be curious as to what 1GHz Ti's go for these days as I have the same setup.

Selling the music with the computer is perfectly legal as long as you no longer hold any type of copy of it digital or CD/DVD.

Average is around $1550 for a mint like-new example and maybe $1750 if it has Apple Care.

Hi
Sounds fair. So, what abouts could I sell my Ti \/ that has AppleCare until 01/2006? Brand new battery replaced under Applecare. The new one has the brand new 2.5 hours (No power saving). It is also in very prime condition, no scratches or scuffs, no screen marks, barely any use on the keyboard or trackpad because i use a cloth when on the road and USB keyboard and mouse while at home. All original materials (box, booklets, Restore DVD, CDs...)

I want to upgrade (sell it) when the 2.0GHz+ PowerBooks are released/announced.

P.S. Sorry to be off topic.

It seems that there were some offers earlier in this thread. Did they not really make you an offer, or were the specs of their computers not to your liking? I'll trade with you, but I highly doubt you want a tibook 800 (DVI) for your G5. Although, it would work with your cinema display. :)

I do have a Titanium 1Ghz, 512Mb RAM, Superdrive DVD+-RW, Airport 802.11b, 60Gb Hard Drive, New Battery & Keyboard, etc. Oh, and Applecare too. (I'll have to check the expiration date on the Applecare. I think it's still two years though.)

So yeah, probably not to your liking, but it's an offer you and I can think about more.
