I'm looking for an original airport card, not the extreme edition. Since Apple stopped selling/making the card, they are hard to come by or really expensive on ebay. I was hoping someone would have one laying around (or a new one that they never used?) that they would be willing to sell to me. I have a G3 iBook that I recently decided to go wireless with and didn't even realize Apple stopped making the cards until it was too late. Please let me know if anyone can help me out. Thanks a lot.

Have you called local resellers? Frequently they don't sell out of things as quickly as Apple's Web store or the Apple Stores do. Some of them even buy large quantities of items that are being discontinued knowing that folks will be in the position you're in.

The Web site of my local college bookstore still lists the Airport card on its Apple price list. Maybe you can find one still in stock somewhere?

I was in the same boat as you this week. I recieved my Airport Express, which my new Powerbook already has an Extreme card in it, but I needed a regular Airport card for my Rev.A iMac G4 to complete my home wireless network. I look around online and could only find around $129 plus shipping, even on eBay. So I went to my local CompUSA and they were all out, so lucky enough I remembered about a small local Apple reseller, and they had some in stock for $99, which I figured was a deal since it was brand new. So my advice look for a local dealer cause that might just be the best deal you can get. The Apple site is a good reference to find a reseller you might be unaware of, so good luck.

I bought the 2nd to last Airport card at my local CompUSA.

They kept them locked in the back room...needless to say I felt some sort of millionaire buying some sort of expensive piece of equipment.

I looked at the local university bookstore today, and they still have ten or twelve old-school AirPort cards. So if you look around, you can probably find one.

If some vendors like the CompUSA mentioned above are actually hiding them in back rooms, it might be worth asking someone if you don't see them on the shelf. You never know.

Good luck!

I just bought a refurbished 11b from www.smalldog.com for $97 which is much cheaper than anywhere on ebay, it looks like their prices just went up but perhaps if you email them and mention how they were just $97 last week they may cut you a deal.

So how much did they want for them?

Thanks a lot for everyone's responses. The idea about looking at the local university was a great idea. I'm enrolled at UofM this Fall and was able to get one through them (at regular price). Again, thanks!
