I'm using OS X/PS 7.
How the heck do I use the shape tool to draw only the line of a shape? I need to draw a rounded rectangle around some text and *only* want the line, not the fill. This must be possible, right?

There's a little "fill" option on the layers palette right near the blending modes and transparency and whatnot. Set that to 0%

ok, i just had a look and here's what you do:
selsct the shape tool and then go to the tool bar thats along the top. now in the group of buttons that are in the middle you have to have selected 'Subtract from shape area'. now you can draw with just the line! hope that helps, the screenshot should clear things up.

Another way to cheat is to create the object, select it, then stroke it in another layer. I do this when I need to use a shape as reference and then can go back to it again and again - especially when making buttons for rollovers.
