I purchased a solid state drive (256GB) that came out of a macbook pro from a guy on craigslist to put into my white macbook. The drive worked when I picked it up, but when I had it installed, it was dead on arrival. I've called Apple and went to the Apple Store, but they can't help me because I don't have the serial number of a macbook with a 256GB SSD.

All I need is the serial number of someone with this drive so I can send it in under warranty; I don't need your computer, just your serial number. The drive cost me a ton of money, and right now I'm stuck with a dead drive.

Please help, I was really excited to get a SSD. Thanks! You can email me if that's more comfortable. jjudd@mac.com

Your first and only post in this forum, and what you're asking for is fraud.

I suppose this post doesn't break any specific rule of MacRumors, but one would hope one would know better. This is essentially predatory, since it would be an act of fraud on the part of the person giving the SN as well, not to mention potentially depriving that person of their own warranty rights. So, please do not request this kind of assistance on MacRumors.
