I just purchased a used G4/350 that only came with 9.2 on it.
When I try to install 10.0.3 from my CDROM it reboots, I get the little spinning disk then the disk freezes and that's it.
If I try to install from my 10.1 CD it boots to the CD - but it won't install the OS as it says that an earlier version must be on -
So I'm stuck - not sure what to do -- I have a good install on my used cube and am thinking about swappijng hard drives and reinsitalling on the cube.
I've tried restting the PRAM btu that didn't help -

any ideas?

Go into 9.2, wipe all parts of os x of the hard-drive and then use the 10.1 cd. That way there won't be a newer version of the system on the drive.

Hope this helps

if you have 9.1 or higher wipe the drive and install that then 10, mac os x.0.x as of current has to be on the first 8 gigs of the partition and if its not a fresh wipe or install it won't install.

All good suggestions, but none worked.
What did work was removing the Adpaptec 2906 SCSI card that wasn't hooked to anything.

Thanks for the help...
