What are the best alternatives for pop/imap email accounts that are free? I'm asking here because you may have first-hand experience...and don't say my ISP..they're stingy and only gave me one...

Hi
I would try using macosx.com e-mail, I only noticed that today :)
If you can't find it I can set you up an address on my server.

Hi,
I don't seem to be able to create a new thread, and this one seemed thew most relevant - sorry guys :)
I was considering keeping my itools account because I thought that downloads from the iDisk were not bandwidth limited (at least I have never seen any mention of a limit). But I just tried to check out some photos of the apple store only to get a message that the itools account was suspended because it had exceeded bandwidth allowance.
Anyone know what if any bandwidth limits there are?

myrealbox.com is both free and ad-free, run by Novell to show off the power of Netware or something.

Why do you want to replace your mac.com email addie? I'm keeping mine.
Do you realise you can keep your mac.com eamil addie without paying?
Go to:
http://help.apple.com/mac/1/help/mail/pgs2/macFmSet.htm
and click on "
Converting your .Mac trial account to an email-only account" in the nav bar on the left.
For what it's worth, I'm going to convert mine just before I have to start paying to use all the other features.

You're wrong..if you read it now, it says a full .mac member has to PURCHASE an additional email account and then that can be made into email only or something...but you must be a full .Mac member...go on..read it all again..

I think I might be able to live with ymug.org...how many emails are you willing to setup? is it your own server?

www.fastmail.fm
after having been through most free email services (including the ones listed above in the thread), i am a huge fastmail.fm supporter. full imap and pop support, advanced spam protection, 10 MB for free guest users, your pick of over 30 domain names (lots of .com, .net, etc.), great web interface, no ads. it's great.
and no i don't work for them

that fastmail place is pretty sweet.... not to bring it up again but... that's the kind of thing i would have liked to see apple do... ie, offer some options.
that's cool how there's pretty much an option for any type of user... and even the highest one isn't all that pricey. and seems pretty full featured...
i think that's where i'd go if i needed an email address as of now...
thanks for the info
