Personally, I wait for that notification around 5% telling me to save my work or plug in the AC. I figure that's when my uMBP is hungry, not before.

I plug it in whenever I realize that I will be working past when the battery will be drained. Then plug it in every night so it's ready for the next day!

makes sense if you do Work on her. i'm a student so if i'm not typing a paper or doing research, she's just my plaything.

I like to be plugged in at minimal four times a week but my preference would be 7 days a week and sometimes twice on Sunday.

I plug IT in when ever I'm done working or when the battery gets under 20%.
I'd rather not have it shutdown while I'm in the middle of something and as it gets under 10-20% I think I may be running that risk.

what difference does it make whether I call my Mac a her, a him, or it? ...maybe my Mac just has more character than yours...

Did I criticize you on what you called your computer? No. I merely mentioned that I plug IT in when the percentage dips below 20%
You should probably be a little less thinned skin, I made no remark, nor do I really care what you call your computer. I choose to reference it as an object and not a person - you can call it what ever you wish.

my skin's fine but I'd like to point out that when someone CAPITALIZES and italicizes a word, it becomes a statement that can be interpreted many different ways.

I usually plug it in for most of the day. Most of the time it's all filled up, although at times it can take hours to get to that state.

Yes, but most on here would interpret the poster was getting off the sexual innuendo train and back onto the topic of computers. YOU may have inferred a personal attack on your referring to your machine as a "her", but word to the wise - don't swing at every pitch thrown your way.

Well said. I plug my MBP "badboy" whenever I'm near an outlet.

I mainly use my umbp in bed, so I only plug it in when I see the battery getting low. I think it's better for the battery to plug it in only when it needs to be charged, my dad never unplugged his, and the battery only lasted a year. ;)
Apple rates the new umbp at 1000 charge cycles, so the less times you plug it in the better, but hey, even if you fully charged and discharged every day, 1000 days is a long time to keep a laptop. ;)

This thread is silly. :p Please make use of the (many, many) other threads discussing best practices for battery charging, if you really have a deep interest in this topic.
