Changing a file type icon

I am wondering how I can change the default icon for a file type. For instance *.zip -- how can I change this icon for the entire system?

The only way I know of to change the icon for a particular file type in Mac OS X is to change the application associated with that file type. If you want to keep your application the same, but just change the icon...I can't help you there.
