"Registered User" and "Guest" Statuses?

I just noticed some people have titles such as "Registered User" and "Guest." I was curious about what these are?

In particular, I noticed someone with avatar status is now a "Registered User." I know there have been a few bannings lately -- does that have anything to do with this?

guest would mean someone who is not regestered but looking at the forums.

registered users mean people who are registered and looking at the forums.

the bannings have nothing to do with becoming a "registered user"

So how come they were listed as people's titles (i.e., instead of "macrumors 6502," someone with an avatar had "guest" as their status)?
