I'm getting the 667mhz ti book DVI version for my birthday
any of you guys know where I can get the best deal??
I'd like some extra ram and maybe an aiport card
I was going to go with the apple store but the 256 ram seems low
Where's the best deal?
I want to see my options can be new or refreshed.
thanks

Send Backtothemac a PM. His company is an authorized reseller.
In general Apple product prices dont' vary too much due to MAP (minimum advertised price limitations).
Now, looked briefly, PowerMax (a site sponsor, btw) has openbox and refurbed tibooks http://www.powermax.com/cpus/new_pbook.html
But, you only save $100-$200, so it depends how comfortable you are on open/refurbs. Many of the place including powermax, and macmall etc... tend to have extra RAM offers.

Become a student :-)!! I got that same setup with a 40 gig drive and airport for roughly 2400 bucks. Not a bad deal if you ask me.
BEN
PS. Another good way to get is to become a Apple Student developer (needs ID and all that stuff) and you can get PB's at GREAT prices (like 2000 for that setup).

I was in the same situation as you are right after Macworld. I was hoping for updates, but oh well...anyway, didn't have the cash for a DVI 800, so I went for the 667. But after you add the airport card and 256 ram, your around $2820. The Apple Education Store is well and good, but what you forget about it the $50 shipping and whopping 9% sales tax (about $175). Then I found this (after really looking).
Powerbook G4/800 512/40/Airport $2799

You have to call them and ask for # 293990. Applicable for Applecare too. Free shipping next day airborne, and NO sales tax. Got mine over a week ago and still think its fabulous. Go for it, you can't loose. And its FAST as hell. This thing is gonna rick with Jag. Hope I helped...
