black imac mod-

mod-ed ibooks-

The imac and ibook's paint is painted on the inside of clear plastic.
There was a black imac that turned up a while ago and some people thought it was a new product, guess not.

The black iMac has been discussed already. (http://forums.macrumors.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=6543)

But those iBook mock-ups are nuts! I like the blue one. :)

well, you'd have to throw the warrantee out the door, but it would be interesting to have a 'different' mac.

Too bad Apple doesn't offer other alternatives to their machines anymore.

The guy who did the black iMac writes that while he was doing the mod he broke parts of the electric system, so the Superdrive, hard disk, and the monitor backlight don't go on. Guess it's one of those "Kids, don't do this at home" kinda things...

i stripped the original paint from my cube last weekend and its going to be powdercoated black when i get back from kentucky in two weeks..
im currently running it though with dual harddrives (an 80 and a 40gig).
I need to find black translucent sheet of plastic that i can cut and customize for the top of the cube.. ill post pics of course when its done..

those are really cool mods

kind of like cars, motorcycles, and electric guitars

personally, i like to keep things stock...even if they are ugly...i am much more interested in what is under the hood

but the blue ibook mod is stunning...why doesn't apple have a blue ibook? i am sure there would some takers
