For some reason once in a while when i go to turn the screensaver off on my powerbook, i can never get back onto the desktop. The screen just stays black after i enter my password. The only thing i can see and move is the mouse. I tried waiting but nothing changed, still totally black. Anyone else have this problem?

i had a problem similar to this... create a new user and see if it does the same thing... probably a preference file problem..
