I really don't understand why there's no Canada store - strange. It couldn't be a technical issue, must be legal.
As far as I can tell, the legal barriers were removed only a few weeks ago. I'm hoping they will announce it for november. Yeah yeah, I know, I keep repeating the same stuff...but if we Canadians are not annoying enough, they might forget about us.
I suggest a "no-celinedion for ITMS" trade. That's the best we can offer ;)

Interestingly a bunch of links from the itunes page on apple.com result in an error (try to get the latest free song, or click on the eminem track in the top 10).
Also, some exclusive ep don't seem to work (a search for the artist le tigre returns no hits).
But enough rambling, iTMS with a few songs missing is better then no iTMS at all!

Anyone know how to report this? Apple, or more likely the labels, deserve problems for this.

Go to individual artist pages, and there will be an item in the upper-right-hand corner called "Artist Alert." Click on it, and you can set alerts for new albums. I'm pretty sure this is new today.
Also, Music Videos can now be arranged by genre. Is that new?

Using babelfish it appears they still have no reports from the actual press conference, they are just talking about the same stuff we are here, why certain EU countries (that use Euro only) are not available, no news on Canada, Japan, Australia, etc.

One interesting fact: All european countries using the Euro currency now have iTMS except for the Republic of Ireland. That's why other EU member countries such as Denmark and Sweden are still iTMS-less. I guess all Danes, Swedes, Norwegians and even us Swiss would be more than glad to pay in Euros even though currency exchange rates may change a bit from time to time.

well, no one in Switzerland would mind paying in Euro. Heck, I live near the border to Germany and I use the Euro far more frequently (both in Switzerland, where it's accepted in pretty much every store and of course in Germany) than the Swiss Franc. That really can't be the problem. The issue probably is the IFPI* on the one hand and the trade barriers between Switzerland and the EU on ther other hand.
pkis
* there's hardly any Swiss content in the iTMS - there can only be one reason for that: the people with the Swiss IFPI keep on being the same stubborn a-rods (nothing against Rodriguez! :) they have always been.

Too bad it's still multiple stores, but I guess that's reality. I'm sure the country list will keep growing--maybe soon.
I don't think MacPrime has any real info... bur Sherlock's german is nearly as bad as mine :D "net curtains"??? Let me guess... "web pages"?
Apple Store being down probably just means a U2 iPod... but I can dream of the fabled 60 too :)
Seems like Apple.com (http://www.apple.com) and Mac news sites will be our source of info... too bad no live updates from some sneaky attendee.

CNBC supposedly says the U2 and photo iPods are the same? Doesn't say anything about displaying photos, only storing them... but iPods can already store them, so I'll still hope for a color screen :)
And I hope there's a non-U2 version (if not, there soon will be).

60 AND 40 (= thinner?) photo iPods! They will be awful, so don't buy them. Get out of line so I can order :D
All the rumored features I hoped for are there (color screen, slideshows to TV/projector with music, album art) AND a cool new OS-X Aqua color GUI :D
And I don't have to get a U2 iPod :)
Prices are $499 and $599, so I suspect the non-photo 40 will remain.
I don't care about losing 20 GB vs. what the rumors said for $499. 40 is all I need--I'd rather have it thinner.

Apple unveils U2 iPod
October 26 - 14:10 EDT** Apple today introduced the iPod U2 Special Edition as part of a partnership between Apple, U2 and Universal Music Group to create "innovative new products together for the new digital music era." The new U2 iPod holds up to 5,000 songs and features a black enclosure with a red Click Wheel and custom engraving of the U2 band member's signatures. Apple also announced that it has "created the online music industry's first-of-its-kind "Digital Box Set." The first digital box set, "The Complete U2," will contain over 400 tracks including all of the band's albums and over 25 rare and unreleased tracks. U2 fans will be able to purchase and download The Complete U2 beginning in late November for US$149, and U2 iPod customers will receive a coupon for $50 off the purchase price. The new 20GB iPod U2 Special Edition is expected to be available in mid-November for a suggested retail price of $349.

The iPod Photo pretty much blows away the least bit of competition :) seems pretty useful, especially because you can connect the dock to a TV.. so you can show your pictures virtually anywhere! very nice indeed!

There is a new Preference option in iTunes 4.7. It lets you set up your iPod for syncing, and yes mainly for the iPod photo but I am assuming that there is something there for normal iPods too.

Apparently, we Europeans are quite capable of using your West-Germanic pidgin (aka 'English'). So, what's with 'properly'? Still, why should there only be one language? You make 'linguistically incapacitated' (aka 'I only speak English') sound like a virtue.
Can't wait to see Britain ('Great' ..., if you will) finally making her exit from the EU. No doubt, at least in France and Germany, weeks of joyful celebrations would ensue. God, it would feel so great to at last get rid of that constant whining (not to mention the thwarting of every attempt to make the EU really work to its full)! It doesn't take much to get people to say what they mean. Your sentiment is not alone amongst nationalities. The only thing that the EU will do to the full, is satisfy the corrupt bureaucrats that nominated themselves to run it. The only thing the voters vote on is who gets to be their personal messenger/europian rep to distribute command from center out to slave.
Europe is a bad bad thing.

People seem to keep on missing this:
Apple today also announced it will launch the iTunes Music Store in Canada in November.
Last sentence of the first paragraph. The Canadian iTMS is on its way.

maybe some one know why not Poland? Do you think it's about Euro? We don't have so maybe that is the reason?

The Euro countries seem to have been first in line so I'm sure that's part of it, especially since Switzerland and Norway weren't included this time around. It may also be a licensing issue. I really thought that Poland and the Czech Republic would have been welcomed into the fold this time around.
I think the other big factor is that Apple over the last year has rapidly expanded its European presence and there have been some growing pains. Especially with their relationship with TNT for deliveries and with customer service issues. Having to put extra energy into the above probably means less energy devoted to new markets.
Another issue though is that Apple seems to be moving towards an English language store for the smaller countries and I would have thought that would be reason enough to include Poland, Czech Republic and even maybe Slovenia. They did say they will be bringing on more stores in the future. Sorry you guys have to wait so long.

The reason for Irelands exclusion is painfully obvious if you live in ireland. We are subject to the same rip off prices as th Uk for music, and I would say that Jobs was unable to negotiate the 99c per song from the labels as this would mean larger cut in profits for the record companies. And they could hardly open itunes ireland at 1.20 a song!
So folks don't expect itunes ireland anytime soon, unless the case against the cost difference between UK and Europe is resolved.
