Anyone have any idea what I can get for a one-year-old 20" Apple Cinema Display on eBay? I have the original packaging and manuals. The display is in perfect condition (NO dead pixels). I'm willing to sell and ship by 2-day insured at my expense.

I'm going to buy a new-style 23" as I got my new 6800 card today and figured a new display would be better than $99 for the DVI to ADC adapter. ;-)

I would guess somewhere around $800. Since you can pick up the new ones refurbed for $1099 and the panels in the Aluminum ones are a lot better.

I thought the new enclosure was the only change. They have better panels too? My 20" is incredible so I can only imagine how nice the new ones are then. I figured maybe could get $800-900 for mine. Maybe $900 if anyone considers there are no dead pixels and it is in new condition. Am I better off posting it on eBay with pictures or can I expect some bite from here?

The newer displays have much better response time so ghosting should be less of an issue.

Watch out for the pinkness the 23" tend to have.

Is that a bug or just the way they are? I had just thought that the Safari brushed metal looked slightly purplish. ( I just hooked up the new 23")

EDIT:

Well, after using it for 20 minutes, I definitely noticed a pink hue to greys and whites. I took back to the Apple Store and boy did they put up a fight. They hooked it up and she had a "tech" come over and look at it. He said "nope, nothing wrong with that monitor" (exact words). I actually had to argue with him for a good 30 minutes and he finally hooked up a plastic case 23" display. It looked night and day different to me, but he said the new one looked fine. We walked over to another new 23" display and it was blatantly purple everywhere. I couldn't believe they actually had it on display. I finally decided a new 20" would be the best way to go and got it home and it is perfect. Apple DEFINITELY has issues with the new 23".

Well, I found a guy willing to give me $800. Sounded pretty good to me since I won't have to ship it or pay commission to eBay. What do you guys think?

sounds pretty good to me. I agree with your original thought that it is worth $800-$900. So if you can get $800 with no fees and no shipping, that sounds good. Not an amazing deal for you, but you're certainly not getting ripped off.

re: the 23" displays, yes, they have a pink hue problem. Some people say that with proper calibration, it can be corrected. Others dont really agree. I, for one, have a new style 20", like you, and I find it incredible. No reported problems with those!

Do you find it to be somewhat grainy compared to the old style 20"? I'm guessing it's either because the new ones have a sharper display or it's the nVidia card I put in.

I was looking at the 23" Cinema the other day at CompUSA then I noticed the new XBrite displays by Sony. They only go up to 19" currently - but they blow everything else away. It's like the difference between Standard and Hi-Def TV. At least just look at one, before you jump into the 23". Just my opinion...
