Cnet has a picture of an "iPod sock" made by apple. Yet I cannot find it on their website.

Has anyone else seen where to buy it?

http://www.macminute.com/ was also showing the sock. I can't imagine who at Apple thought of that one.

That is retarded. Am I the only one that didn't find the sock with holes in it on ebay not funny, especially after the link plauged the internet for weeks.

The fact the apple is going to make a sock for their ipod seems really retarded (I am going to guess this is based on the "success" of that ebay ad and its lack of humor. I dunno I can't imagine someone pulling a sock out of thieir pocket and pulling an ipod out from it. I think the radtech pod sleeve is the closest an ipod case should get to a sock.

I think I could buy a dozen socks for less than $29. Any takers? I'll sell you one (unused) sock of any color for five bucks? Come on, it's a great deal!!! Six dollars used.....

Now, if you think those are dumb, look at what SprintPCS phones can have as accessories: http://www.sprintpcsaccessories.com/direct/sp/accessory.jsp?prod=1923&mfg=Sanyo

They're toward the bottom of the page--charms. I saw some in the Sprint store today.

I have NO idea why these were created, but here's the real deal with the man himself:

Apple needs to make charms that hang off of the iSock. iCharms. The coolest accessory for your iPod yet.

Notice the Apple logo "tag". (slapping face) Geeesh, this makes no sense, but if Steveo wants it, there MUST be a reason...maybe he's hit on something once again. :o

I think Apple is having some fun with the 3rd party accessory companies.

At this point they can afford some gratuitous nonsense products, I mean the iPod is probably the most trend setting product Apple has ever created next to the Macintosh itself.

Can we expect iPod pajamas soon? :p

The logical part of me says 29.99+tax USD for socks is retarded.
The rest of me REALLY WANTS THEM!!!

It may sound funny at first but this will sell.
It's totally tuned to our times.
All the cases one can buy either make the ipod look ugly, or more complicated or bigger…
This sock is what young people are looking for.
It has this "nature" feel to it. The texture is not cold but rather inviting to touch it. You have different colours that match your personality and taste (like the mini). And it's not about squeezing your pod in a tight silicon case but it's more like putting it to rest in a cosy sock.
As I said it might sound silly but this is market research at its best.

These will sell like mad for the holidays.

Well, given that the new iPod Photo allows up to 15K pics and one-handed access to them, given a large young male audience (not predominantly young male - just a lot of young male owners) and what category those pics might fall into, I fear what those socks might actually be used for... but I'm not surprised Apple waited for the Photo to release them. ;)

I am not as negative as most of the posters seem to be. This product is exactly what I have wanted for my iPod. I dont' want to cover up the carefully designed iPod, I just want to protect it. I have been keeping mine in a small sport sock for some time now, these are just a heck of a lot more classy. I will be getting them. This product hits on a market that is almost completely untapped. (there is another company out there selling something similar, but they are all fuzzy or super-multicolored.)

Apple hits another home run... with socks.

Should I feel worried if I want one? I mean, it's a SOCK! Nothing more! But... it has the cool Apple logo... I bet it's nice and soft... my iPod would probably love it... I want one now...

I need help.

I want an iPod sock because how ugly the black cases make it. I had a gen1 with a leather case. The iPod always stayed in it because i didn't want to damage it.

However, on one of the rare occasions when it was out of the case, my friend remarked, "I'd forgotten how nice it actually looks."

Currently my gen4 doesn't have a case. I won't be getting it a case either. I'd rather not add nearly half a centimeter to it's width and depth. The whole reason why I got an iPod is because it's looks nice, and is small. A case takes both of those features away.

A sock however would allow me to use it, and keep it from not getting scratched all to hell. It would also protect the wheel from crap getting into the tiny little gaps.

Honestly 29 is a little steep, but you get 6 of them, so I'll probably sell some of them to my friends. And when you pay 20 for a leather case, 6 for 29 isn't great, but it's apple.

Alright, so am I the only one who thought this was a joke (and still has doubts). They do look kind of fun, and I'm sure they would sell in the previously-mentioned stocking-stuffer market, but... it just seemed so obviously kidding. And they're totally MIA on Apple's site and press releases.

Don't you wish that our feet was as small as the iPod so perhaps maybe we can buy these new iPod cases and cover our feets with them?

Darn you stole both my points.I hated my first iPods black case. Now I just have to find a way to convince my parents that a sock is better then my 30 dollar japanese engineered case, But hey there is always Christmas.

i think it will sell. i mean, right now, for my case, I use an oakleys sunglass holder thing, ya know the soft to touch, silky sock type holder, but I lost my sunglasses, and it fits my ipod perfectly, so i think a sock would do just fine as well

Yeah, I still have the gray bag my 2nd gen. iPod came in, it's the protector of my iPod. This is an amazing idea, and Apple will make tons off of this product alone...I'll be ordering the minute they come out for sure. Brilliant.

This product cracks me up to no end.

I think it is creative and fun. For those who are so violently opposed to it and the price, I think you're missing the point.

It's a fun product. Marginally practical. Not a lot of money. Just fun.

Over the years there have been several relatives who consistently buy me socks for Christmas (not that I mind, you can always use socks)........but I think this may be the first time I have actually ever wanted socks for Christmas :)
