View Full Version : a visit to the Clarendon Apple Store

So teabgs and I, along with teabgs' friend - Aaron, met here to take a look at the new power macs - my impression, well, they're ok. Snappy, but the design isn't exactly Apple's best.
As for the noise, in the store its not too bad with all the background noise going on. If it was in a quite room, it would be the only thing you'd hear.
But teabgs mentioned the Eye and Mischief wanted pic.

Hey hey hey....teabgs in tha Clarendon Hizouch!!
Nooch...(that goes out to Beej) ;)
Yeah, me and the Duke are hanging out in NOVA checking out the new PowerMacs (excluding the dual 1.25Ghz since its not here). They are pretty snappy regardless. They only have 256 RAM as well, which makes the speed kinda impressive.
we'll see how they are when I get the Dual 1.25 and am running Maya and FCP...BTW B2TM gave me a GREAT price....when you need a machine, give him a holler....He'll hook you up....tell him Teabgs sent you ;)

Holy crap!
That's teabgs?!?!?!
Damn, dude...you look way different than I thought...
mc68k and I went to the Fashion Valley store today to get some hands on with the new PMs, too.
My impressions:
•Looks a lot better in person
•Not very loud
•Not much faster than current 1 GHz machines, if at all

yep, and you can imagine what might be on there for the 1.25s - but I'm wondering if this whole heat exchange overkill is for these processors specifically or something that will be coming down the line in several months.

hehehe....yeah, dig it...
As to Duke's thing about whether the heat sink is for future processors...I think it is. The new one didnt seem to be generating that much heat...I'll let ya'll know how hot it is when I have the 1.25 up and running in a few weeks...
Personally I think its for the IBM chip...

I think it's funny how you get these images of people in your head after a while, and then when you see them for real it messes with you a little.:p
Don't you love it when new machines come out and they don't lock the cases at first? Seems like they start locking them after a few weeks at the one in SD.

We should have a thread where people could try to guess what other posters look like.

Good idea, although, I'll have to get a decent camera, then you can see Macrumor's #1 Drag Princess in all her glory! Yay!

Or maybe get pictures from the more prolific posters, mix 'em up.... and have a matching game...

That sounds like fun. Someone would have to go through and find all the pictures or get one from all the +1000 posters. We could make it a contest and give the winner some sort of honorary title.

Interesting idea...
There are some pictures already floating around in various threads...but it would be cool to do current ones, all the same style (head and shoulders "mugshot")...maybe...

OK, I'll get this matching game set up. I'll include all of the 1000+ posters so we don't end up with 60 photos. Send me a straight on photo mugshot like rower said and I'll make a matching game with small photos (150 x 150 perhaps) If the following users would be kind enough to e-mail me the photos:
dukestreet,eyelikeart,AlphaTech,Rower_CPU ,jelloshotsrule
,jefhatfield ,Backtothemac,krossfyter,Beej,King Cobra,britboy,mischief
,Ensign Paris,arn,mac15,Hemingray,AmbitiousLemon,teabgs,MacAztec,iGAV,
hitman,verbose101
e-mail to (Don't post em here or you'll ruin the contest.)

One mugshot of hitman coming up.... :p
I doubt that Alpha will send a pic though...
He has said time and time again that he refuses to post a pic on the boards.

That's alright. I respect that some posters may not want to post a picture. I hope that most of them do so it's not all that people know.

asurace....theres a pic of me here...you can use that. I dont necessarily have time/ability to get the "mug shot".

Yeah my "mug-shot" is a 6 month old picture.
It's a cut out from a larger pic. I had neither the resources nor time to take a picture specifically for this...
It should be interesting to see the final outcome... :D

That'll work teabgs, it should be interesting when I get it up.

I've got too many pics up, and on my website - I'll provide one that's a little less obvious. Should be fun.

I'm sure i'll have to clear it with eye, but i'm thinking tha our site, thefotohaus.ciom would be down with giving 5 of our hi-res pics as a prize to whomever wins the contest.

That would be cool, in order to make it more difficult I'll throw in several pictures of random people. :D After I get it posted maybe one of the mods could make it a sticky.

We may want to sticky/create a picture request thread, so the people who still need to send in pictures will know about the competition...

I just sent mine in - I think it would be best to just pm all the slackers and get them - don't make a big deal about it till the contest is run.
