I was away from the internet for a week and AlphaTech is gone? (or so I've heard) What happened? Is he ok? He helped me with most of my problems...
Can someone clear this up for me? Please reply...:(

Something about censors...go to the site discussions...thats where i found out. Queen Cobra apparently said Alpha was banned...then arn closed my thread and said that he was welcome back...otherwise i have no idea what happened. I'm thoroughly confused.

Last known post by AlphaTech...
Zero viruses on either any of my Mac systems or the pc's I have built. I make it a point to NOT setup email on the pc's since that is how the majority of viruses get transmitted in the pc world. I also make sure that my NAV definitions are up to date on my computers... I also don't open attachements unless I have specifically asked for the file (and get the file name before the email arrives). A moderate amount of caution and common sense will go a long way in keeping you virus free.

Well, I hope he isn't banned, rude he may be, thats why they call em Massholes (as in MA mass). Alphas cool, and he can help with problems, a little flame happy, but tension have been high after MacWorld and then .mac and now the powermacs, everybody needs a break.

AlphaTech is gone for good
<rant>
he got fed up with all the newbies whining(his words not mine) and decided that it was high time to leave. i know this because i was chatting with him while he was making the decision.
he has logged out and says he will not come back. he will be elsewrer on the net if you have a desperate nead to talk to him you can just send him an email, i think it is in his porfile.
i feel that we have lost one of our most prolofic posters who always has something funny/useful/ occasionally (or often) rude to say.
some of us are glad he is gone while some of us feel that we have lost a helpful tech. but personally i beleve that he may someday return and bring back a little bit to spice into the forums once again. </rant>

Wow! I never would have guessed he would have left over whining. Given all of the disagreements/battles/flamewars I've seen him in (and battled against him in :)), I would have hoped for a more grand exit. Not that I want or wanted to see him go.
This is a shocker for me.

He was annoying sometimes, but it was fun when he opened up a can of whoop (hmm, uhh) ....butt on some unexpecting newbie. I will miss his claims of the Harley being the ultimate motorbike. Looks like the rumbler has riden off into the sun set.

i, for one, am skipping the farewell parade. i regard him in much the same way as mischief. funny to a point, but mostly a nuisance and very rude. "newbie whiners" is a hilarious way of putting it, since i never considered anyone on this board more childish than he.

I agree. For all his touting of the Second Amendment, he should have gone out with guns blazing. Instead, he quietly left over a bunch of whining newbies. What a wuss. Are you reading this, AlphaTech? Come back here and make a proper exit, you knobber.

First I'm annoying.... then I'm a newbie?!?:(
What's happening here? Alpha isn't dead or Banned.... He's just decided that it wasn't worth the abuse and downright idiocy... which I can certainly understand. I have only recently been posting "out front" again for lack of interesting threads having any longevity back here. Alpha chose to put himself in the middle of the Zealot War out front and got goaded into a verbal atrocity..... "The thread had to be destroyed in order to be saved."
BTW: If any of you have a problem with me I suggest you read more of my posts than just the ones where I'm being oppinionated out front.... I'm aware of the fact that I can be a loudmouth jerk out there... sometimes I get obnoxious to nosedive an otherwise pointless discussion.

well i couldn't blame AlphaTech for getting mad at some newbies... I know that feeling where someone asks a question that seems so easy for you yet hard for others... like when my brother couldn't go online, I yelled at him, all he had to do was turn off the router and then turn it on... but if everyone knew the same as we know there would be no fourms, no fun, no comments, nothing... I have to admit as a kid i have nothing else to do then surf on the net all day, i guess you can say my life is macrumors.com... but if AlphaTech has chosen to leave the fourms for now or for ever that is his choice... as a starter of this thread i would like to say i think this thread has turned out nice, besides the random "that was stupid that you left" and "you stink...BLAH BLAH BLAH" this thread has shown how much one person can make a difference in our lives. now i sure as hell would be happier if Alpha was back but hey, maybe he has things to do, un-like me :) well I have had a good experience with him and have no problem with him emailing me or PMing me or anything, so Alpha if your still out there, even if your just lurking behind the shadows waiting to return I just wanted to say drop by once and a while to tell us what ur doing, or say hi, thats all i ask...

But hey, I was gone for 2+ weeks without MacRumors this summer, and another week some time before that, both times in the great outdoors, where there is no internet connection :p (and nobody missed me :( :p )
As for post counts, and the such, I don't post as much as some people do, but then again, I'm rather lazy. I'm also looking to improve on my senior year of high school, and that keeps me away from MacRumors more than I'd like, but my education comes first...

It's kinda good for AlphaTech. He doesn't have to give out free information since he's keeping a low profile. That way, when they ask something silly, he also doesn't have to be impatient which is so easy to do. I'm particularly bad when someone does it to me wherever I happen to be working. I've been known to say things like "Just turn off the computer and go home." :D

I believe that Alpha went away, because he couldn't stand it anymore that other people were proving him wrong lately on a lot of stuff. A few months ago he was still kind of a hero, but lately a lot of people were just annoyed by his attitude and gave him **** all the time.
And unlike in older times he often made a fool out himself, since some people were coming with real arguments and he still tried to pretend that he is the big guy who knows how the universe is working, not flexible at all to adapt to other opinons or to even admit that he was wrong about something.
I still think that he has a kind heart, but he is too busy with playing the hard and tough guy to protect his sensible character by a hard shell. He reminds me a lot of my dad (who died in January this year :(). And no, the relationship to my dad was far from working, but I tried my best to get along.
Alpha couldn't take it anymore that most people saw him as a freak and showed him open how annoyed they were by his behaviour. He made himself to what he was here in the forums and at the end he couldn't deal with it anymore.
Too bad!
I had a lot of fights with him, but he was almost like a pal to me anyway. We even smoked the peace-pipe together a few weeks ago, which was kind of amazing, considering how he bitched at me all the time before.
Farewell AlphaTech! Hope to see you again here some time!
... and I still like my '59 BMW better than your Harley! ;)
