I will be very disappointed if it doesn't. The recent lack of buckling of the swash has been disturbing. Anyone heard anything?

Reviews haven't looked too bad, so it may be port-worthy. With the lack of new game announcements at the moment, I wouldn't mind seeing it (I was too young to play the original Pirates!, so i'd like to know how it was). This game went pretty much under the radar considering the releases we've gotten in November.

But no current official announcements yet. It is a game I know a few Mac users are looking into seeing.

I seriously doubt the game will be good. I just read a preview article in GI of this month and it's not looking too promising. But who knows, I've read preview articles there that made it sound like new game will be a revolution, yet when it would come out, they themselves would give it 5/10.
So should wait and see I guess.

Any Sid Meier game we get on the Mac would be appreciated.

HE-HE. Good thinking. Kinda like my old thinking that book SHOULD be judged by the cover... :p ;)

I loved Pirates! as a kid. In fact, I will say it is my favorite pre-CD-ROM game. I read somewhere that it was being ported to the X-Box. Otherwise, I may have to build a PC. :D

Arrrr. Rumors be not looking good matey. Methink the scurvy developers cannot see the buried treasure they could rake from the...extra effort. If it happens, it wont set sail for at least another 6 months, so I dinnae advise investing soon.

Avast!

Or, in other words, not likely soon, but maybe in 6 months. MAYBE!

I gots to agree that Pirates! Gold was one of the best. In fact, it nearly prevented me from graduating college.
If this doesn't get ported, we'll have to resort to some real piratey means (board the ship, take the helm, and leave no man standing).

Arr I be not able to resist any mention of pirates - Sid's crew or any other ! ;) Methinks some scurvy dogs will be a walking the plank should the good ship Pirates! not be coming to Port Mac ...

Black John Cash (Loved the quiz :D )

Not too likely, methinks. That said, fine, fine pirate names all round. I rather wonder what about me says, Mad John Kidd.

I have it for PC, I like it a lot. Holds to my old love, the original, pretty well. In the manual they give good explanations for why they changed certain things and why they added some.

The only part I dont really like is having to dance with the gov'ners daughter--you have time yourself soooo well or she doesnt let you kiss her hand let alone give her some lovin'.

I think we'll get Pirates sometime soon. It's been pretty quiet on the Mac gaming front. And I think Pirates isn't using any oddball middleware, so it's definitely worthy of being ported while we wait to see how the situations with GameSpy and Havok unravel. Sid Meier games always have a decent chance coming to the Mac.

Played C=64, Amiga, and PC Pirates! All awesome! Having a Mac port would be the final nail in the coffin for my PC! :)
