Can I leave Firewire plugged in?

I just got my 10gb iPod - it rocks! My question is, is it ok for me to leave my Firewire plugged into my iMac when my iPod isn't attached?

that's what I have been doing ever since I got my iMac.

looks a bit messy with all this cables around since I have the USB cable for my digital camera also connected permanently, but its practical :)

Same here... it's practically the only no-hassle thing to do if you have the Flatpanel iMac.

And with my main power outlet for all my peripherals right behind my iMac... it is quite a mess!!
