iPod iTunes cannot read the contents of the iPod - yet mounts as hard disk

Hey guys..

Plugged my iPod classic 160 gig in tonight and iTunes gives me message that it cannot read the contents and suggests I restore... It mounts on my desktop and I can access files stored on it. The actual ipod is saying it has nothing on it...and yet it also says I only have 7.5 gigs free on it...which would suggest the tracks are still on it...right?

Any ideas on how I might get at them>?

After some hardcore searching, and crying, I managed to find someone who had exactly the same problem as me, only with more brains and ingenuity...

So here's the solution!

It's fairly hassle free...you just have to rebuild the iTunes database file.

Isn't the internet incredible.
