Macbook startup sound

Hi i have a new macbook for 3 month's now and i think its a great machine

but when i start up my macbook the startup sound doesn't come anymore does any one knows why ? (sorry for my bad english)

If your computer is muted before you restart it then the chime won't play when you boot back up.
