i was browsing on the music store and saw that they had one of the ep's of my favorite band death cab for cutie... the stability ep... i saw that there were 3 songs... first two about 3-4 mins and the last one 12mins. The store gave me the choice to buy the first two seperatly, but the long song was album only. to buy it would cost 9.99.
this pains me, this is ridiculous. it basically means your paying $8.00 for that song. or if you only want that one song (which is what i thought the benefit of the store was when it started) you'd have to pay the full $10.
ouch, that hurts a lot. in a lot of ways. I love his band, but no one new is going to buy their music for that price. I doubt that it is there desicion to price the songs this way.
in the begining Jobs said he had a good model for the store, simple and easy. well if that was a straight up lie i dont' know what is. "all songs will be .99" nope "all albums will be 9.99"... nope... " you can buy individual songs" nope. i remember one of the arguements alot of bands, like radiohead and red hot chili peppers had was they wanted there albums sold, not songs. Jobs didn't put them on because of this, but now he's being a hypocrite.
what is happening to the itms? if things continue it will not succeed, at least not at the rate it had been.
