Apple tv upgrades its self

I have an apple tv 40Gb I have to leave it at factory setting as for some reason when I ask it to play my music the screen goes blank, apple have no idea what wrong so I cannot upgrade, I have noticed if I have not used the apple tv in a week or so when I next put it on its upgraded itself, then I have to restore factory setting to play music again, has anyone any ideas on this

You can deactivate the automatic update process by patching your ATV. this might be a good solution for you.
