Hey, are any of you out there Industrial Designers? I'm seriously considering trying to become one and I'm looking for a little perspective on the industry as well as schooling.
Here's my situation: I have a bachelor's degree in Computer Science. I got a job right out of school as a programmer, but I really hated it. I still love computers and some light programming, but it's clear to me that programming professionally is not something I want to do for the rest of my life (or really at all). I've considered many other careers, and Industrial Design seems to be a really good fit with my interests and abilities.
My questions are: What are my schooling options? Do I have to get another bachelor's degree in order to get a job as a designer? If so, what kind (BA, BFA) would you recommend? What are some good schools/programs that may not be well known? What's it like to be an Industrial Designer in the day-to-day sense? And, finally, what do you think it takes to be a good designer?
Any answers to the above questions or advice/input in general would be greatly appreciated :)
