Security update+JB iphone

I have a JB iphone which I JB in december. Can I do a Security update 2009 -01. Its a 2.2 (5G77) version.

I just want to make sure that after updating the security it should not brick the iphone. Also, Since I don't know much about these stuff. Can I update the version from 2.2 to 3, or is it not recommended?
 
Don't worry 3.0 isn't released for the public now anyways. So you should download and use Pwnage Tool from here. And use that to make a custom 2.2.1 and then custom restore that IPSW in iTunes and you will be on a jailbroken 2.2.1. 🙂
