New Mini DVD Drive Slow importing Music

IS it normal for the Mini DVD Drive to run slow, it seems to take forever to import music from CD's on the Mini, it works fine, just really really slow compared to a Windows PC with Windows Media 🙄

I wonder if an external USB drive would be faster, has anyone tried this or run into this issue?
 
I have an iMac (im pretty sure it uses the same drive) and I have also noticed that import speed is very slow
 
I believe "Error Correction" is checked by default. Go to "Preferences" > "General" > "Import Settings." If you want to speed importing, uncheck this box. I don't know if it is on or not in windows.
