Reduce Springboard Memory Usage?

Ok after jailbreaking my iPod touch 2g some of my games become laggy and for some I can't listen to music and play at the same time. My springboard usually uses 24-29mb of memory according to MemTool. I have a couple of options selected in Winterboard like a custom 5 icon dockflow and black status bars. I do not have anything big though like a theme, just a custom background. What can I do to get my games good again?

have you tried resetting your ipod?

Hold top and home button till ipod turns off

Then let go ( be careful not to hold home or your in restore mode )

This usually fixes it for me

get rid of winterboard. it just makes things too slow. if you want speed you have to be picky on what apps you run on a jailbroken phone.
