Anyone here making a living with their iMac?

I am curious to know if anyone is managing to carve out a living (part time/full time) using their iMac? With the economy and jobs going south, it would seem plausible that someone could figure out a way to bring in some bucks using their intellect and iMacs.

After all iMacs are made for business.

Any ideas/comments?

Sure... My wife is a graphic design artist and makes a good living with our iMac. I know others that write OS X applications with their iMacs. Once you have an iMac the sky is the limit! :D

When I do work from home, unfortunately I have to start up Windows on my iMac in Parallels desktop, as I have to work in an Internet Explorer only web environment. However, it is still using the iMac :cool:

Graphic designer here. Using a trusty old iMac G5.
I suppose I could use any old computer to get the job done but this old iMac was best because it's non-glossy IPS panel is godly and necessary for my work. The price was right as well, If I bought an IPS LCD and computer separately it would have cost a lot more.
It has already paid for itself many times over. :D

I will admit work has been a little sparse recently where i live as my usual target clientele are budget cutting but i have gotten so used to working freelance i dont think i could take a 9 to 5 job.

I'm in the broadcast industry, and final cut studio is an important part of how I make ALL of my money. I use FCP to edit sports promos, freelance editing, and I use the iMac for all my weddings I do on the side.

I'm a recent graduate and my G5 made me all my money and now it's the iMac's turn.

Been working on Macs since 1996. Freelance copywriter working from home.

Had a 11, a 11ci, an 8550 (later hotted up with a G3 card) and now my trusty G4 Quicksilver tower.

The G4 has Tiger and still works surprisingly well, handling everything throw at it, albeit a bit slowly. http://www.everymac.com/systems/apple/powermac_g4/stats/powermac_g4_733_qs.html

Dunno if a Pentium 3 from that era would run Vista or work on the net.

I run an eBay business on my iMac. Sure I could use any old PC for this, but I find I'm much more productive on Mac OS X.

Another graphic/web designer here, now getting into Internet marketing with my 20" iMac G5. We've come a long way from the old beige Macintosh Classic II, which was the first Mac I was ever privileged to lay my hands on (wasn't mine, but it got me started). :D

Since then, I've had an LCII, a Performa, a 2000 snow iMac, and now this baby and my G4 PowerBook. I drool over the newest ones, but I have to honestly admit I don't NEED a new one; these are more than doing the job for me. Darn it.

Now, how do you define "making a living"...?

I've had macs since 1990. IICi, IIcx, MacPlus, The original 150 laptop and every iteration since then.
worked on a 24inch iMac since they were released and bought the new one the other day.Can't WAIT to transfer all my gear onto the new beast (ask for a new fangled firewire cable when you buy this model as this is the best way to crossover)

I've worked on this machine predominantly as a designer of one form or another, but for the last six months I've been using it for stock trading and made more money than I've ever done before. So Yeah, macs for work!

Yes, I'm a Football team Manager and I use my iMac every night to manage the team.

I am in my 10th season, in the premier league and having been very successful, winning the champions league 4 times in a row, I have to say the iMac has been a crucial part of my success with it's large screen, giving me the ability to watch Family Guy at the same time.

I am earning £120,000 a week. Thanks APPLE you're GREAT!!
