I have a white macbook, the one right before the superdrive was included. Will a Macbook Air Superdrive work for my Macbook?

Yeah, it's a special bus, the drive supposedly negotiates more power from the system. I hear a number around 1.5 amps but that sounds like a decimal error, although I really don't know electricity at all.

The Macbook Air Superdrive doesn't need a high powered bus but is locked out from use by other Mac's by the use of an Apple proprietary IDE to USB bridge with apple's proprietary firmware.

The high powered USB Myth has been debunked here (http://forums.macrumors.com/showthread.php?p=6200271#post6200271).

This thread also shows a simple hack to allow the Macbook Air Superdrive to work with any computer.
