My HD went on my aluminum MacBook. No problem, because the Apple Store is 5 minutes from our house and they replaced it within an hour of dropping it off.

Here's my concern: I know that the data is still accessible, because they helped me pull a few documents off of it that had not yet backed up to our Time Capsule. Should I be worried about all of the other sensitive data that is still on the old HD? I asked about it at the Genius Bar, and they assured me that everything is taken care of, and that all of the old HDs get wiped.

So I left it at that...but now I am wondering.

I don't think you have to be that worried. They could get in loads of trouble if they facilitated the release of personal information, so it's in their best interest to do a good job erasing everything.

I am mostly worried about a store employee accessing and using my financial information. Maybe I'm just too paranoid. 🙂
