I'm using the most recent version of Toast Titanium.

I have some DVDs that I want to back up onto the computer as .img or .iso disc images. I know that Toast can copy a DVD into a disc image, but it saves the images as .toast images. I'd prefer .img or .iso for universal compatibility.

Is there a way for Toast to backup to .img or .iso? If not, is there a program for Mac that will?

Use Disk Utility. .CDR format is the same as .ISO.

and most image-burning applications will burn .cdr as a DVD? (like Toast, Disco, Burn)

Not clear on your question, but to clarify, the .CDR format is just a .ISO with a different file extension. So rename to .ISO if you want another application to burn it.

Sorry for the ambiguity.

What I was asking was if other disc burner applications would read .cdr, but you seem to have answered the question already.

Thanks a lot.

Just out of curiosity, is there any difference between .IMG and .ISO?

.ISO is a standard, .IMG may be proprietary depending on the application that created it. Best stick to .ISO/.CDR so you know where you are.
