Im thinking about getting a refurbed iphone 3G, they say it will come with the latest apple software, so im assuming its going to be on the latest baseband and firmware. The question i have an cant seem to find a definite answer to is, if it comes with the latest unlockable baseband, can it be downgraded to the one that can be unlocked? ive seen baseband downgrade instructions and torrents around the net, but i havnt been able to find out if its possible if you have the latest baseband.
So, can the latest baseband be downgraded on the 3G to allow unlocking?

thanks for any help.

We can't give you a straight up answer. iPhone 3G has had some issues as some bootloaders allow baseband downgrade, others don't (usually a very high percent).

So it doesn't matter the software, all that matters is the bootloader. If that is the incorrect version you are stuck.
