My friend took a motorcycle trip around the country. He would like to find a free tool that would be good for documenting the trip in text and photos.

He wants to write up articles and embed thumbnails of the photos related to that part of the trip. (His photos are in Picassa, but the "blog this" capability in Picassa may not be the best for accomplishing his goal.)

Any recommendations?

I thought of Wordpress. Is it easy to add a bunch (~10) thumbnails to a post?

wordpress blogs or blogspot

wordpress is always the best.. you have the freedom to add more features and html additions on your blog..

also there are so many photo templates for wordpress blogs.. you can choose a professional looking wordpress template or you can have an simple but fun photoblog template on wordpress..

there are also so many plugins for wordpress around the web you just neeed to patiently search for it..

there are also blog hosts such as "blogsome" that is powered by wordpress. and if you're good at html stuffs then you'll be able to create a very wonderful photoblog on your own..

and also putting in code from photo sharing sites like picasa, photobucket and more more is extremely simple with wordpress blogs..:)

Posterous.com. It's a newer startup, but they do great work. Just email post@posterous.com to get started, and you can set it up to forward your pictures to your Flickr account.
