When iam viewing my emails in Mail, and i delete a email in the Mail app,
how come it doesn't get deleted in my gmail account?

Unless I'm mistaken, Gmail actively prevents this.

Mail -> Preferences -> Accounts -> Mailbox Behaviors

uncheck "Store deleted messages on server"

this is for IMAP anyway.

Couple of things:

First you need to go into gmail settings while logged in with a web browser. In one of the tabs there is the option to use POP, IMAP, or both types of email. Be sure IMAP is enabled, I do not believe it is by default. I'd recommend disabling POP as there isn't any reason to use it.

In Mail.app, you will need to make a new account. On the first page, uncheck the box that says setup account automatically and go through the pages as you would. The incoming server name is "imap.gmail.com" and the outgoing is "smtp.gmail.com" Use SSL with both and gmail username and password whenever it asks. Hope that helps,

Bill
