Hi!,
We’ve just released our first app, Beer Opener (http://itunes.apple.com/WebObjects/MZStore.woa/wa/viewSoftware?id=315149628&mt=8)
We think it's a revolutionary app (as much as a virtual Beer Opener could be) and as fans of MacRumors we hope you'll think so too.
For more information, screenshots and a demo video (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PTpGFTNmRnA) check out our website - www.tweeller.com.
Thanks in advance,

Can I ask why developers such as yourself even bother? The app has 25 seconds of content, do you really imagine anyone will use it after the day they download it? Or is this like your high school computer science class senior project?
Apps like this are the very reason I don't even bother visiting the app store anymore - it's like trying to find that one important receipt you accidentally threw away in the garbage. Even if you find it, you are still left with that putrid smell in your nostrils.

Aw, come on, give the guy a break. He made an app, it was approved, he's happy and he wants to share.
The beauty of the app store is the vast variety of content. Something for everybody - teenage girls, pre-pubescent boys, toddlers, physicians, pilots, EVERYBODY.
No one needs everything on the App Store. Everybody can use something.
You don't need to be so arrogant and condescending. The garbage analogy wasn't called for.
I apologize to the developer for you.

Statistics show that 95% (probably too high, but close to) of applications that are bought are not ever used again after the first week of owning them.
I'm sure we've all been guilty of that. But hey.. at the end of the day, if its been worth it for the developer, why not.
I personally find if very interesting to see what innovative ideas people come up with. iCrap or not, its still great to see the creativity of people developing these types of apps.
My application isn't one that is particularly useful either, but I know people get a kick out of it for a while. So why not.
At least its written well and it serves its purpose. For the most part, I don't think its all about the money either. I think developers get a kick out of the idea and out of developing it and if it sells just a few, its been worth it.
I agree with you ski2morro.

This app would just piss me off... Leaving me with an unopened beer and a dollar less to spend on more beer. But clever idea nonetheless.

Congrats on having your first app approved! I have to honestly say that I will probably not buy the app. I know that I would get it show it to a few friends, laugh and enjoy playing with it for a few days. The I would probably not use it again. I am sure that there will probably be quite a few people that will but it though. I would certainly download it if it was free. I just know that I would be wasting my money on it.
My opinion is that I think you would do better having it ad-supported and offering it for free. I think you would get more out there and still gain revenue. I am sure you all thought this through and have numerous reasons for doing thing the way you are doing them now.
The app looks good. Thanks for contributing!

Hi,
Thanks for all the replies,
just to clear things up, we never intended to fit in to the "new sophisticated app" spot, we aimed our application to the same target audience as the iBeer application and we proud of that.
About pricing and usage, all the numbers and the statistics that you guys mentioned are correct, but we need to put it all in the right perspective, the simple way of doing that will be to compare the average 0.99$ app to something real, for example, a can of coke from a vending machine will cost you about the same price, the average "usage time" will be 5-10 minutes and you won't be able to reuse it, now what you need to ask yourself is when was the last time you heard such a harsh debate about the question "whether to buy or not to buy a can of coke?"...

Not at all, the trigger gesture does not involve sliding or pulling, simply move your device over the bottle as shown in this picture:

This app is a great opportunity for merchandising. I could see Guinness offering a branded version, for free. I get stuff in the mail from them all the time, including real bottle openers.
There are a lot of people who would like to have an app like this just to show it off, but might not pay for it.

I keep opening the beer bottle but no beer comes out. I then look at the beer bottle and it still has a cap on it. :(

I don't have an iPhone or iPod Touch yet but it looks like a bit of fun and I couldn't complain if it only cost me £0.59 and I only used it once or twice, it's a joke app afterall.
This app would pay for itself the first time I bought a 6 pack afterwards given the amount of times I open a beer, have 2 swigs and then watch an entire film or TV show before I go back to it only to find it's gone flat and warm then either open another one or turn it into a shandy.
The last bottle of tequila I bought lasted me 8 months, I'm not much of a drinker unless I'm in a pub and even then I'll drink far less and far slower than everyone else.

We've released version 1.0.1 which fixes a minor bug on jailbroken devices and some performance improvement.
