Hi,

Awhile ago I installed an additional RAM stick in my intel iMac to bring it up to 4GB. Ever since, the system information reports 4GB, but activity monitor and the iStat widget based on it do not. I've tried deleting the preferences plist with no change. I even updated to 10.5.7 recently hoping that this would correct the issue but still no change. Screen shots below. Please note on the activity monitor page how the total of the numbers on the left is 3GB and that is how the pie graph is distributed, but under the graph it says 4GB.

Seems your system only officially supports 3 GB of RAM instead of the full 4 GB. I know some of the older MacBooks have this limit as I'm sure some of the older iMacs do to.
