What's up people?

Seeing how apple usually picks really good songs to use for their commercials. I was wondering, what song would you like to be featured on the next iPod commercial?

Who knows? Maybe there's someone who works for Apple looking at this thread to use for the next commercial!

I think they should use:
Basement Jaxx - Where's your head at (not on iTunes, might be a problem)
Bombs over baghdad - Outkast
Mundian to bach ke - Panjabi MC
Song 2 - Blur

I think the ones by Blur and Basement Jaxx would make great iPod commercials.

all of these apear on iTMS...

Franz Ferdinand - Take Me Out
The Darkness - I Believe In A Thing Called Love (or any of their other tunes really)
Beastie Boys - Ch-Check It Out (a great choice right now)
Dizzie Rascal - Fix Up, Look Sharp ...or... Jus' A Rascal

that's all i can think of right now...not particularly relavant tunes, but good and catchy none the less. great for a 15 second spot.

Some auto makers use good tunes in their commercials. VW makes some kickass adverts in Europe. Remember the VW "Aqualung - Strange and Beautiful" Beetle commercial? Man, that was the best commercial I saw that year.

Saturn used The Walkmen's "We've Been Had" in a Saturn Ion commercial last year in North America, and Mitsubishi recently used The Flaming Lips' "Do You Realize??" (although that song is a bit old, and anybody who knows the song will think, "Man, that was soooo 2002").

I don't like Apple adverts (from the few commercials I've seen in Canada), but I enjoy it when companies use songs that aren't commercially successful, but are big in the indie/underground music world. Its a good way to portray the company as being cool. Any moron company can use a "Jet" song. Yes, it'll be a recognizable song, but associating yourself with something that impacts culture, such as a cool song that nobody knew about until you introduced them to it, is a good way for an advert to be remembered. Even if you do this with a cool song while advertising Powerbooks or something, it'll also be an indirect advert for iTMS because it'll portray Apple as being ultra hip.

or ultra obscure...

I think you raise a good point, but I'm not sure if it's the whole picture.

Positively 4th Street By Bob Dylan. It would make a nice metaphor for iTMS and the iPod. The intro line would be a punch at Real "You got a lot of nerve for saying you are my friend. You just want to be on the side that's winning"

It would be nice to get them to use some "not-so-mainstream" stuff.

This would be great to hear. (http://phobos.apple.com/WebObjects/MZStore.woa/wa/viewAlbum?playlistId=4553701&selectedItemId=4553679)

I guess that makes me a moron too, I hadn't heard that song before the commercial. In fact, I tend to think that it was the commercial who catapulted Jet into fame.

I thought the exact same thing... As did my wife & kids, who like to believe they're "tragically hip"... lol... :-)

'it Ain't Nothing Like' by Rae & Christian for a 'Switch' ad. :p

Actually looking at the song titles on this Rae & Christian album, there's alot of songs that would have there uses for Apple... ;) :D

'Wake Up Everyone' - Switch Campaign
'Salvation' - Switch Campaign
'Ready To Roll' - iMac/eMac
'Let It Go' - Switch Campaign

And all are tight as :D

Bjork - Big Time Sensuality [moby mix]

Bjork is really cool, and Moby is an Apple supporter and has good relations with Apple, so it would work out really well.

How do you link directly to a song in iTunes?

control click a song in the music store, and select "copy as link" or whatever it is... you can tell an iTMS link because it starts with "phobos".

there's also something called the iTunes Link Maker, but i'm not sure what that is. Control clicking works for me.

What about a commercial without any sound at all?

Has anyone seen that (I think its a Cadillac) commercial? It has no sound, just the car driving and the voice at the end. The silence really gets your attention.

I think thats Cadillac.

Boy, it must be some commercial if it makes you mistake a Cadillac for a Lexus! That's what I call handing the viewer a pair of rose-tinted glasses.

i think a song made in GarageBand should be featured. why not? complete integration is there. i got an idea!

you see a room, and a bucket of green paint on the floor. it moves to a teen making a song with garageband on their imac, then they plug in their ipod, walk onto the the other wall in his room, and it's neon green or something. he starts dancing like in the ads, then his mom comes in and yells at him to stop. then the voice comes on and says something witty.
stupid idea.

Come on folks, how could you miss something so obvious. Mac OS X 10.4 is going to be Tiger right? So what other famous underdog has used a song with the word tiger in it? Rocky of course! Thats right "Eye of the Tiger" by Survivor. Everyone knows that song it'll be great!

No no, I only meant that any idiot company can use a super-popular song at the moment, not that someone who has never heard the song before is an idiot. Jet was bound to be big anyway..... I don't think Apple did it. ;)

Anyway, there are so many musicians out there that use Apple that surely a bunch of them could get together and make an Apple song for them. Maybe Coldplay could allow Apple to use one of their unreleased songs or something?
