Can someone please explain what the difference is between Photoshop elemenst/CS/etc.?

I'm looking to buy one for my new macbook. What's the difference between the $100 and $600 dollar one?

Found an old link which refers to the differences between CS2 and Elements 5, but it's much the same now - maybe elements has a few more features.
