Ok, so I have a work collegue that has come over from the US on a permanent basis. She has a locked US iphone and a UK corporate Blackberry on O2. Ideally she'd like to user her iphone instead (work don't have a problem with this) So I see 2 options but have a couple questions:

1) Unlock the iPhone with yellosn0w. I've unlocked a fair few iPhones so know the baseband issues etc. So once we've done this, the calls, text etc will obviously work but what about the data? I assume the BB Data plan is between her BB and the BB Server so it wouldn't work on the iPhone. Is there anything that can be done?

2)Since the UK BB is with O2, can she just take the O2 sim into Apple/O2 etc and get it activated on a US iPhone? I know you can do this with UK phones but not sure how it would work with a US one.

Any help would be appreciated.

She'll need to call O2 and ask if she can be transferred onto an iPhone tariff. I did it the other way around and swapped from iPhone > BB tariff.

No. That iPhone was sold to be used with AT&T. They won't be able to unlock it for O2 just b/c they are an official carrier.

Unlock it yourself, get her tariff swapped over to an iPhone one.

Done.
Any help would be appreciated.

Ahh, I never thought of that...d'oh, so simple!

Will O2 just put you on an iPhone tariff without you actually having to register the actual iPhone? There's no giving over of the serial number?

have I missed something ... as far as my knowledge goes 3g phones with the newest firmware (and bootloader) are not unlockable with the pwnage tool ?!?
If shes over in the uk for good didnŽt she pay some kind of cancellation fee for her iphone contract and wonŽt att unlock an iphone if you terminate the contract ?

It's not at the new bootloader as it hasn't been used/updated in months

She may well have terminated her contract but didn't get the phone unlocked...didn't know that was an option and I'd be surprised if AT&T do that.

well i guess then youŽll have to find out if her company mail runs over the blackberry server ... i not i guess there will be no problem with the data but if her email is pushed over the blackberry server then there is nothing you can do

Not solely, but we can change the corporate plan with O2 to an iphone plan..

Guys

I did the above (unlocked and changed to the O2 iphone plan) and it's been working great for weeks. Now this weekend she's getting the Call Failed message consistantly on outgoing calls. However, she can receive calls and texts.

I've looked around and the date/time is set correctly as is caller ID.

Any ideas on to what the problem could be?
