How to knockout background from AI graphic?

I need to be able to create a graphic in AI for Mac and place it into a PPT presentation without a white background box. My graphics look fine in PPT for Mac, but when I run the presentation on a Windows machine the white background shows up. I have tried opening the graphic in Photoshop (Mac) with a transparent background. No luck. Any ideas?

Export it as a .png. This should allow you to have a transparent background for the file. It has worked for me in the past.

Also. Under the File menu there is Save for Microsoft Office...

Of course it just exports a png too. ;)

I found that vector graphics retain good quality in MS apps if you use the .wmf (Windows Meta File) format.
