Does anyone know of a script (preferably jquery but any will do) that will gray a page out until the page has completely loaded?

The reason I ask is I'm building a photo gallery for a St. Petersburg Times photographer. He wants the thumbnails of his images on the gallery page to be high res. 108 hi res thumbnails make the page load in around 30 seconds.

Horrible idea. Grayed out page over x seconds = user close that window.

Page load should be 10 seconds from usability point of view.

If you set the tags properly or make thumbnails properly, it shouldn't take more than 30 seconds. Also 30 seconds on what, dial up, T1, fios?

There was a tutorial that shows you how to load the elements individually like the apple store does but i can't for the life of me find it today.
